Tribute Letters

There can be little which is less rewarding . . . either to
the giver or the receiver, excusing the cliché, than "sending
flowers after he's gone."

Dan Riordan, you deserve better.

Without your monumental contributions, reinforced and
enhanced by your outstanding personality, the discipline of
"Hand Surgery" could never exist as it does today.

We among the hundreds of residents, fellows, colleagues
and students who have had the privilege of spending time
with you, Dan, acknowledge your special talents and your gifts
to us. We "pay tribute" to you by expressing our appreciation
of the many ways you have touched our lives l and those of
others.

Through us, your disciples, and through your writings
and lectures, the health care of literally thousands of patients,
throughout the world, has been positively influenced.

Because of busy schedules and perhaps because of
feelings of awkwardness or embarrassment, we frequently fail
on a day to day basis, to make our feelings known to you. The
format of this publication allows us that opportunity.

We recognize that your quiet, humble, unassuming
demeanor is only a camouflage of the giant personality within.

So, Dan, with this "Tribute" we herald your greatness and
the excellence you bring to Medicine and to Surgery of The
Hand.
